Social Medio Optimization (SMO)
The overal goal of Execuwin's Social Media Optimization (SMO) strategy should be to drive traffic from sources other than search engines. To do this, Execuwin needs to engage communities of potential customers on the websites where they are already interacting. It is recommended that Execuwin create a company profile on Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.
When creating these profiles a consistent profile photo should be used. It is recommended that the brand icon — the "target" — be used as the brands' social media profile photos because it will fit best within the square dimensions the images are limited to. The header image, currently used by Facebook and Twitter, should also be consistent across profiles where possible, although the space available is different on each site. When creating the header image the Brand Photography Guidelines should be followed. It is recommended that any profile description come from the 25-Word Brand Statement or similar messaging, depending on available length (see the Brand Messaging page).
Once Execuwin's social media profiles have been established, posting on them should be pursued consistent with the following goals:
1. Create shareable content
2. Make sharing easy
3. Reward engagement
4. Proactively share content
Create Sharable Content. Execuwin should be posting regularly and consistently. A goal should be made to post "original" content several times a week as resources permit. Created content doesn't need to be lengthy. It should primarily be themed around Execuwin's dominant selling idea and demonstrating expertise in Execuwin's areas competitive differentiation. For example, the brand could post tips on how to create employee alignment or interview candidates. Posts could also be case studies, industry statistics, or stories of business growth. It may be useful to have a blog on the Execuwin website and simply repurpose blog content at various lengths for each social media site.
Make Sharing Easy. Content should be authored in a way that makes it valuable to share. We want brand followers to find the posts interesting enough to occassionally "retweet" them or share them with a friend. With this in mind, content should not just be a veiled sales pitch for Execuwin, but should be interesting information on its own. Content on the Execuwin blog should also have all the necessary buttons (Facebook "like," etc.) that allow readers to share the posts on social networks.
Reward Engagement. Employees responsible for social media updates should actively seek out and engage members of the community who share Execuwin content. Personal attention can go a long way to building a loyal following. Execuwin should try to respond quickly and positively to anyone who mentions the brand online.
Proactively Share Content. In addition to creating conversations with those who engage the Execuwin brand, the Execuwin team should post and share content from other important individuals and industry sources. This is another way to give brand followers value and make more people aware of the Execuwin brand.
